As a child, he was immersed in music: listening to his parents’ albums, going to gigs, and enjoying jam sessions with friends. At age seven, he found himself awe-struck at the Nice Jazz Festival by performances from Robert Plant, Chic, and Dr. John. After this inspiring experience, he convinced his parents to let him begin learning guitar and piano. Fascinated with rhythm, he picked up drumming at age eleven. At fourteen he experienced his first rock festival, which showed him the energetic and emotional impact that music can bring to audiences.
